| Abstract: | Presents the estimation of two important biochemical parameters-haemoglobin and glucose, quantitatively by a single chemical cell. The chemical cell has been so designed to be made of layers of cellulose matrix containing dry reagents separated with a semipermeable membrane. The membrane acts as a barrier to red blood cells and allows plasma to filter through it. A single drop of blood is required for the estimation. Both the chemical reactions take place simultaneously with the incubation time of 1 minute. The intensity of light which is reflected from the chemical cell (pad surface) is proportional to the amount of colour formed. This method provides a single step analysis of both parameters by reflectance photometry having an integrated sphere attachment |
