dc.description.abstractTwo-dimensional ion acoustic solitons travelling in a spatially inhomogeneous plasma with finite temperature drifting ions are studied. The modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (mKP) equation governing the soliton propagation is obtained, and is solved for a constant density gradient. The amplitude and the energy of the soliton increase and the soliton width decreases as it travels into the decreasing plasma density.en
