description.abstractA case is made for the use of solar energy in meeting the energy requirements of the silk production and processing industry of India. The paper briefly reviews the energy requirements of the silk industry and identifies the potential areas existing therein for the application of solar energy. Experiments carried out in this area at the Textile Department of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, are described.en
