| Abstract: | This paper presents the dynamics and control of a small hydro-turbine driven generator, which
commonly operates in remote hilly areas of India and abroad. The simulation studies of the ynamics and control are conducted in two different configurations of the generator, firstly in the isolated mode and secondly in the grid connected mode. In the former mode, the frequency and load of the generator are controlled entirely by the mechanical speed governor, while in the latter mode, the frequency and load are controlled by the combined effects of the speed governor and integral fie-line bias control. Digital
simulation results are presented which show satisfactory transient response in the case of tie-line bias control. |
