description.abstractThe growth rate of a gravity or curvature drift driven Rayleigh–Taylor R–T mode in a dusty plasma is adversely affected by the dust particles, through dust charge fluctuations. When a high-power radio wave (rf) is launched into the plasma, it couples with the R–T mode to produce high-frequency side bands. The latter couple with the (rf) pump to heat the electrons at the frequency of the R–T mode. The pressure-gradient force thus generated, drives the R–T mode more unstable, with large growth rate. The growth rate is significantly modified by the presence of charged dust particles and its charge fluctuations caused by the low frequency perturbations. The threshold effective radiated power for the suppression of the mode increases with decreasing u, being the angle between the wave vectors of the incident wave and the R–T mode. The growth rates of the R–T mode with high-frequency radio waves with typical parameters of the F-region of the ionosphere is obtained.en
