Abstract: A low temperature aqueous solution preparation under strong alkaline medium is reported for the synthesis of bismuth cuprates. Highly crystalline products were obtained at temperatures around 90 “C. Tetragonal Bi2Cu04 appears to be the only stable phase formed in the Bi-Cu-0 system under these conditions.
