Abstract:
We studied a fiber-optic temperature sensor based on the interference between LP01 and LP02 modes of a circularly symmetric few mode fiber.Theoretical analysis predicting the sensitivity of such a sensor is presented;the predictions are in excellent agreement with the experimentally measured value. A simple scheme for practical implementation of such a sensor is also suggested. The proposed sensor should be easier to implement than the existing two-mode fiber sensors using elliptical-core fibers.
